Yakima FatCat 6 Locking Ski and Snowboard, Why didn't I buy these 5 years ago. in my opinion

A yesterday. I'm looking for information on the Yakima FatCat 6 Locking Ski and Snowboard Rack, so i would like to bring a story to tell.

the good:-well designed to minimize wind noise accommodated Highway 1 Board and 3 ski set standard width. might be able to handle 1 or more sets. but max 3 if they are all fat powder skis. -plenty of space for all-I have a 2005 Explorer with oblong Cross Rails. able to get a snug fit with no movement after installation. even more stable with loaded equipment as your ski/Board actually add to stability. the not so good:-the bolts near the end of the zipper are not long enough. did the job, but had to use slotted screwdriver to force open gripper strap rack to finish the strap connection. It was barely enough bolt thread to allow the clamp to open to end the connection strap. -with all the equipment in the racks lock assembly does not repress all. you have to block it for the first 1 or 2 notches to close with the key. This makes you feel as if you are not sure how you want and fear during driving or enough for someone to force it easy open. It is still safe, just doesn't seem right. -during installation is a pain to have to keep raising the bar higher while struggling with the installation of the connections the end strap hinge. overall, I was very pleased with the performance after installing. I took a 5 hour drive from Milwaukee to Michigan's Upper Peninsula during the season of severe freezing and there were no problems. No frostbite, no noise, no movement of equipment. I did a lot of research about alternatives before you buy these and could not find a better design. I am happy with it.
